Chez Felipe (Philip Tse) began DJing in 1995, making a transition from his days as a guitarist, trading in his long hair for fat pants and two budget turntables. He played an active role in Winnipeg, Canada’s early underground warehouse scene, eventually moving into clubs, lounges, university radio, art gallery shows and special events around the city.  In 2011, Tse took a hiatus from DJing live events when he relocated to Seattle, Washington to further a career in the tech sector.  Chez Felipe moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2022 and has since started performing live DJ events again. 

Timeline / Notable Events

• 1995 - Started DJing in Winnipeg's early underground warehouse party scene.  Performed a wide variety of events throughout the city over the next 16 years.

• 1998-2001 - Radio Host and Producer - Started the Phonocentric radio show on 101.5 UMFM

• Late 90s/Early 2000s - Promoter and weekly resident DJ - DIG (Different is Good) Fridays at the Horseshoe Cabaret

• Late 90s/Early 2000s - DJed at numerous art gallery events across Winnipeg (Plug-In Gallery, Ace Art).

• 2001-2003 - Promoter and weekly resident DJ - Thursdays at Wellingtons

• 2003-2005 - Promoter and weekly resident DJ - I love Sundaes at Bar Italia (Sundays)

• 2003-2005 - Promoter and weekly resident DJ - Fridays at Wasabi Next Door Lounge (Sushi Lounge)

• 2000s - 8 Turntable DJ Mix-off at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival outdoor stage

• 2001 - Musical advisor and event coordinator for 3-day outdoor Garbage Hill DJ festive for Noam Gonick's 2001 Sundance Festival Film "Hey Happy!".  Also served as an extra in the film and stunt double for the DJ "hand" shots.

• 2001 - DJ film wrap party for Canadian Award Winning Filmmaker Guy Maddin.

• 2004-2006 - Promotions Director for indie/electronical record label - Vinyl Republik

• 2007-2010 - Promoter and weekly resident DJ - Lucky Mix, Fridays at Bar Italia

• 2011 - Relocated to Seattle, WA - took a hiatus from DJing live events for a decade.

• 2022 - Relocated to Tucson, AZ - DJed at the Spaghetti Club in the MSA Annex

• 2023 - DJed multiple events across Tucson: Harmony House at Club Congress/Hotel Congress, Che's Lounge, The Royal Room, Owls Club, The Boxyard, The Minibar/MSA Annex, Savior, MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) wrap-up party, Etherton Gallery

• 2023 - Promoter/resident DJ - Desert Disko at the Minibar in the MSA Annex

• 2023 - Desert Disko on Film - A promotional filming for Mercado district events.
